Dailybits

Herman Maes of Dailybits was the very first Bronze sponsor of WordCamp Antwerp 2018. The Bronze sponsorpackage aims at freelancers and small companies who want to contribute and give back to the WordPress community.
We were very happy that Herman was the very first one to reach out. Thanks Herman!

Hi Herman, what do you do and what is the connection with WordPress?

I’m working as the teamlead of a marketing technology team at the big Belgian agency Intracto. I’m balancing my time between SEO, API’s, GTM, GDPR, WordPress websites and all other fun technical marketing things. As a freelancer I’m already for 13 years a techblogger and I’m helping smaller companies with their digital landscape/marketing. Next to that I’m enjoying speaking at conferences.

I started blogging in 2002 and used B2 CMS (which was used by Matt as foundation for WordPress). After B2 I’ve built my own CMS (everybody has to do this once) and in 2010 I switched back to WordPress 2.1 and started using WordPress since then.

About which topics can you help our visitors during the WordCamp?

I’m a technical marketing guy who speaks SEO code and dreams every night of marketing integrations with HubSpot, Mautic, CRM systems,…

Next to that I’m digging into the wonderful world of GDPR consultancy and can help you with all practical questions around this topic.

When entering Intracto WordPress was still a forbidden thing with the heads of all the existing Drupal developers at that time. I can always help you how you can convince your colleagues with learning to love WordPress since we now have a dedicated WordPress team within the agency.

How long do you work with WordPress?

Unofficially already since 2002 with B2. Officially since 2010.

Why do you sponsor WordCamp Antwerp?

WordPress got me into the blogging world and after waisting my time as an SAP consultant my WordPress experience helped to get into the technical marketing field.
As a freelancer this small sponsorships is my way to pay back for this help from WordPress.

Why should people come to WordCamp Antwerp?

Antwerp is really one of the most fascinating cities in the world. 😉

What do you want to learn at WordCamp?

I’m not a developer. I can hack things together and change existing code, so I’m looking forward to some real devtalks. next to that I’m now focussing a lot on security and talks around security, pentesting, malware discovery,… is something I’m really hoping for.

Thanks Herman for your interview and support!
